I have been a fan of 4WD vehicles since I was a kid. So I spent all of my free time in the garage learning everything I could about fixing cars. I still work on my parents' cars, as well as a few of my own. I like thinking that being an Engineer gives me a slight advantage when it comes to reading manuals.
Well I have to say that my Land Cruiser 60 series really taught me a whole lot and it's what really got me started into custom mods and rebuilds
I don't do all this work on my own and credit has to go to my team and workshop partner and few really close friends who keep the garage moving forward
If you're an camping and off-road enthusiast, you know that having the right vehicle can make all the difference when it comes to tackling challenging terrain. That's why many people choose to build their own custom off-road vehicles, tailoring them to their specific needs and preferences. One dream build that has gained popularity in recent years is the combination of a classic 40 Series Landcruiser shell with a powerful Nissan Patrol drive train, resulting in the ultimate wheeling machine.
My team had just finished a massive restoration of this stunning TA28 Toyota from the ground up. We had our work cut out for us, repairing various issues and adding some cool mods to the car. From previous botched jobs, the entire harness, ECU, bodywork, paint, air conditioning, and so much more had to be redone. But let me tell you, I think the end result is incredible!
Leong, Keong, Zaw Zaw and Tu Yah worked together like wizards to bring this beauty back to life. The level of detail and expert craftsmanship that went into every aspect of the rebuild is simply breathtaking.
We're now in the final stages of getting ready for the dyno test on Thursday, and we can't wait to see how this baby performs. Keep an eye out for the video.
The story behind this project adds to its uniqueness. After all, we only work on 4WD vehicles. However, due to some very unique circumstances, we made an exception for this 2WD-drive car. It's a testament to our passion for cars and our dedication to delivering something truly extraordinary.
I want to give a huge shoutout to my good friend Paul Miller for allowing us to build his supercharged classic mini from the ground up in honor of his late mother, Helen Miller, born on 27th Jan 1943 and passed away on 18th Jan 2020. Paul has been a supporter of USJ4x4 Garage since day one, quite literally by being the first person I issued an invoice to.
The mini still has a lot that needs to be done, but they are tiny in comparison to where we first started. The interior, with the bracuda orange square pattern and orange piping, just makes it stand out. Most of you would know that we partner with DK Schewier for our interior, but all assembly and fitment is done in-house at USJ4x4. With that being said, there are still a lot of items we are not satisfied with, but that's how it is with custom 1 off builds. But nothing we can't sort out.
Besides that, she is just looking gorgeous. We even made sure the badge is in black to keep it simple. Thank you, Paul, for trusting us with this project and for being an amazing friend.
The rig that got me started with resto mods. Long story short I wanted something more then my IFS ranger PX1 to take me on the slighty more difficult trips so purchased a landcruiser 60 series bone stock with 12ht motor in 2015. Trusted a shop to build it for me but unfortunately they could no deliver and landed up renting a small corner in the shop and did i myself with my staff/co-driver Zaw Zaw. After a while the small corner grew to running a shop and building for others with my business partner Leong .
